GambleAware Week 2021 - Let's Talk Gambling

GambleAware Week is an annual initiative to increase awareness of gambling and gambling harm in the NSW community. This year, it will be held from 18 - 24 October.

Last year, we checked in with the Checkmates, four friends who were showing signs of risky gambling behaviour.

This year, we are asking the community to take it a step further and actually start a conversation – whether it’s about their own gambling or the gambling of those around them.

To help start the conversation, we’ll launch the ‘Let’s Talk Gambling’ podcast series across streaming services and hosted right here on our website for everyone to tune into.

With a podcast each day of GambleAware Week, our Director Natalie Wright will be talking to the experts on all things gambling.  With something for everyone, topics will range from gaming and gambling through to the impacts of Covid.

  • Talking about gambling – when is it time?

  • Talking about gambling - how do we have the conversation?

  • Talking COVID and gambling - what do the experts say?

  • Talking to kids about gaming and gambling

  • Talking about gambling: the growth and challenges of online gambling

  • Talking to multicultural communities about gambling

  • Talking to your patrons: how pubs and clubs can reduce risk

Get involved and share the conversations

GambleAware Week is a community initiative and we all have a role to play in keeping our community safe. Everyone is encouraged to take part in GambleAware Week. Help us spread the word to get the conversations started.

It can be as simple as sharing GambleAware Week messages on your social media, displaying posters in your business or community hubs or encouraging everyone in your network to listen to the podcasts.

We are working on resources like posters, social media posts and videos that you can use to promote GambleAware Week and a promotional kit with lots of tips and resources to help you get the most of out of your GambleAware Week.  These will be available for download shortly.
